May Weekend: Part 2

This is a great weekend for science, blog readers. WGBH is running a special “day of exploration” program from their offices in Brighton, MA, which will provide lots of opportunities for children to explore science, arts, and music through a variety of hands-on activities. Check out their website below for more details and to sign up: https://www.wgbh.org/event/wgbh-a-day-of-exploration-a-kids-and-family-event.

Also, it’s Mother’s Day! So happy Mother’s Day to everyone who is celebrating that for various reasons. For anyone for whom Mother’s Day is painful or difficult, we see you too and stand (virtually) with you in that difficulty.

What should we do to celebrate this weekend? It turns out there is a “Make Way for Ducklings” parade, which is based on the book “Make Way for Ducklings.” Check out the link below for more information and to sign up: https://mommypoppins.com/boston-kids/event/outdoor/duckling-day-parade. Looks like it will be a lot of fun!

You can also celebrate “Lilac Sunday” at the Arnold Arboretum (https://mommypoppins.com/boston-kids/event/free/lilac-sunday), although to be honest, I can feel my allergies acting up just by thinking about this event. Scientists know a lot more about what causes seasonal allergies (think: histamines, overactive immune system, etc) but not enough yet to completely protect people from being affected by the symptoms. While they are working on that, though, over the counter medicines such as Claritin and Zyrtec generally work well for a lot of people.

Whatever you do this weekend, enjoy and have fun! Happy weekend-ing!
