It’s almost another weekend, which means it’s time to think of more fun and exciting things to do.
First of all, if you have a child between the ages of 4 and 7 who is struggling to learn how to ride a bike (as we do in our family), REI in Boston is running a class that will (hopefully) teach them how to do this! Check out this link for more information and to register: https://www.rei.com/events/9999/how-to-ride-a-bike-for-kids-for-ages-4-7/238800. Because bike riding has so many health benefits and almost no downsides (assuming you follow the rules of the road and bike safely), I am particularly interested in figuring out how to get all members of my family riding safely.
While you are in that area, think about checking out Star Wars weekend at the Boston Children’s Museum (https://bostonchildrensmuseum.org/calendar/star-wars-weekend-2). This event is running on Saturday and Sunday, throughout the museum, and will include a variety of Star Wars themed activities. Personally, I never understood the appeal of Star Wars, but I see how all three of the scientists-in-training in my family are interested in Star Wars and can stretch their imagination when talking about this alternate universe. Also, it keeps them occupied and (mostly) out of trouble. We plan to be there.
Finally, outside of Boston there is the Topsfield Rock and Mineral Show (https://www.facebook.com/NSRockandMineral/). Children under 12 years old are free! And the science of rocks, minerals, and the information they contain is truly extraordinary. We may have to go visit there as well.
Happy weekend, readers! Have fun and stay curious!
